Local villagers in Burton Bradstock Dorset have finally spoken out against Billy Bragg a musician and a political extremist who moved into their village and purchased a £625,000 property. One villager stated that Bragg had attempted to indoctrinate locals into supporting Communist ideology by setting up local music festivals with no entrance fee. Communist literature would be distributed at the events free of charge, Bragg named the events "Braggstock". During the 1984 miners strike Bragg claimed to be the voice of the miners, and Bragg has also been a devout Labour party activist. Bragg also claims to be "anti capitalist" although his bank balance would probably contradict this claim. One villager stated that he was horrified when Bragg argued that the flag of ST George should be banned and made illegal. During a school sports day event Bragg attempted to burn a ST George flag, but was chased off by furious parents. The local post master in Burton Bradstock stated that Bragg was known locally as the "village idiot" and a total hypocrite. Bragg claims to have lots of local support over his activities, but local villagers denied this and stated that Bragg was known as "Billy Bonkers". A local carpenter stated that in previous times Bragg would have been put in the stocks and dragged through the village while having rotting vegetables thrown at him.
