The three main political parties have launched a powerful Government body to regulate Britain`s mass media. This means that the Government will now have the power to censor daily newspapers and all other forms of media including blogspots, this is identical to Communist countries. Originally David Cameron was against the idea, but he has now caved in and agreed. This is the first time in Britain`s history that this type of law has been introduced, many journalists are now concerned that the new law could even censor any type of critic of the Government. This is very similar to a Communist type dictatorship in which the state controls everything.
The plan for the new law was introduced after the phone tapping scandal in which certain journalists were involved in phone tapping politicians and celebrities mobile phones. The police were involved in the scandal, but no new laws are being introduced to target police corruption. The Government claims that the censorship of the press is not being written into law, so this means that its an unofficial body that will put pressure on the media not to publish certain stories, the pressure will probably be applied by suggesting to journalists that if you print a certain story, then you may have a terrible accident, such as slipping under a bus, or being discovered dead in the canal with concrete set around your ankles.
